I am a Chilean photographer based in South London. My work is rooted in visual storytelling as a means for positive social action, with a focus on community resilience and grassroots organisations. My recent project, Beyond the Game, celebrates the resilience and vitality of the Aylesbury Estate community by shining a light on the work of Burgess Sports, a local charity that has been a pillar of support for young people in the area. Since its establishment in 2011, Burgess Sports has provided children with access to sports, mentorship, and holistic support programs, fostering a strong sense of community despite the estate’s often-stigmatised reputation. Through my photography, I aim to challenge the dominant narratives surrounding the Aylesbury Estate, which have historically reduced it to a symbol of urban decay rather than recognising the strength and agency of its residents.
I am keen to take on more projects of this kind, helping non-profit organisations and charitable companies amplify their work and achieve their goals through the power of photography. If your charity or organisation would like to collaborate please contact me at cata.rivera22@gmail.com .
I’m self-funded, so contributions or a small fee would be appreciated to support my work.
Beyond my work with charities, I also explore street photography, documenting the rhythms of everyday life and the unique character of our local communities.
